Mental Health at Work

The aim of Mental Health Practices in Business Life is to identify the psychological factors that affect work efficiency, to bring solutions, to minimize corporate costs and to increase employee loyalty.

It consists of 5 main steps:

  • Risk assessment
  • Risk management
  • Supporting the Employee's Power of Doing Business
  • Awareness
  • Improvement and Support

RISK ASSESSMENT:

This stage is carried out to measure and understand the impact of work-related stress caused by psychosocial risks on the health, well-being, productivity and performance of employees. It is the stage of evaluating psychosocial risks within the framework of occupational health and safety with measurement and evaluation tools created by NHUMAN. The risk assessment phase starts with filling out the individual and institutional preliminary information forms. The institutional psychosocial risk assessment report constitutes an important roadmap for the institutions for the risk management phase.

RISK MANAGEMENT:

It is the stage of preparing the strategic action plans of the organization regarding psychosocial risks and mapping the risk assessments. Action plans are prepared for the identified risks and this is the stage where preparations for the action plan are made with the evaluation meetings held with the organization.

SUPPORTING THE EMPLOYEE'S POWER TO DO WORK:

It is the stage of supporting the employee's ability to work with individual and group-oriented supports for risky areas revealed by risk assessment. Employee Support systems are a consultancy system aimed at solving the problems experienced by employees in their workplaces. It offers a supportive model for the person to cope with work-related stress, to provide work and private life balance, and to solve work-related problems.

AWARENESS:

It is the stage of gaining awareness culture in the field of Psychological Health and Safety. At this stage, it includes creating inclusive policies in order to raise awareness about Mental Health in the Workplace, regular mental health information, all kinds of information and steps to protect a sustainable health perspective.

IMPROVEMENT AND SUPPORT:

It is the stage that includes training and seminars, improvement and support activities, raising awareness of leaders about mental health in business life, and adopting intersectional approaches in the management of teams.

Why IYRS Model?

1. Increases Productivity and Participation:

Supporting and improving the mental health of your employees, making them resistant to stress, develops them in workplace thinking, decision making, workflow and work relations. All of these mean increased productivity.

2. Reduces Costs and Risk:

Improving mental health can be a wise financial decision for businesses. Investing in a mentally healthy workplace can result in cost savings by reducing absenteeism (frequent inability to work due to illness), presenteeism and loss of productivity. It also helps you meet workplace health and safety guidelines.

3. Focuses on Early Intervention / Prevention:

Considering that we spend about % 60 of our time at work and may be subject to stress from work—workload, deadlines, co-workers' behaviors and personalities, management styles, concerns about job security, and others, it's important to be told healthy ways to deal with stress before the problem occurs. Solving problems after they occur can create new costs for the organization.

4. Reduces the Effect of Mental Problems and Solves Problems:

Carrying out preventive studies on the occurrence of workplace-related mental problems is valuable for employee health and well-being, and it is necessary for workplaces to prevent cost and time losses. In addition, supporting employees with mental health problems is of critical importance for workplaces.

5. Reduces stigmas and creates a positive workplace atmosphere:

Mental Health can be a difficult topic to discuss in the workplace. Employees often hesitate to express their mental and spiritual problems. Providing resources that support awareness can also help create an accessible and positive workplace that fosters interaction and attracts talent.
